I am a day late with this blog.....

Yesterday we spent a gloriously hot summer's day on and around Lake Ullswater in the Lake District of Northern England.

We arrived at Pooley Bridge about 11am. We walked round to the pier and boarded the steamer. We sialed to Howtown, where we disembarked.

We wandered around taking photos, found the Hotel, and had sandwiches....and a cool beer for me.

We caught the next steamer to Ridding, stayed on board, and made the return journey to Pooley Bridge.

There we had a delicious salad with Ullswater Pie. It contains, ham, chicken, sage stuffing, ginger and apricots.

Then we got back inot the car and drove back round to Howton, and then we nt on till we reached a medieval church..St Martin's, with a 700 year old Yew tree in the grounds.

Then, we made our way, tired and sun burned, to the Travelodge.
