Aberdeen and St Andrews.

It has been a while.

Last Saturday we drove up to spend the weekend at Aberdeen. I had booked an offer on Living Social at a really good price for dinner bed and breakfast at the Best Western Summerhill.
The actual location is not too salubrious, and the car park is shared with a small shopping mall. To walk from there to the hotel entrance takes you through a small covered way which is also the entrance to a pub.

But once inside, the hotel is extremely well furnished. A lift took us to our suite, complete with fridge and micro wave. There was the usual tea and coffe, plus bottled water, chocolate biscuits and crisps. This was topped up on the second day too.
The food was very good in the restaurant. We both had 3 course meals, and I had steak both nights. The deal covered 1 dinner for both of us, but adding up what it would have cost came to half the total cost of what we paid for the whole weekend.
The hotel was comfortable and quiet. Staff were pleasant and welcoming and helpful.

After Mass on Sunday morning in Aberdeen, we dove up to Fraserburgh via the coast road.

On Monday we left Aberdeen and drove down via the coast, to St. Andrews where we were booked for 2 nights at the Drumloig Golf course.
Again, comfortable but basic rooms. Food was fine, bar meal stuff, but warm and satisfying. We visited Monifieth, Carnoustie and St Andrews. All in all, it was a very relaxing time. These are places I do not tire of visiting. Lots to do and see.

The photos are a short selection from the trip. For now, I am back at school till the end of February. There is a desperate need for supply teachers, and I could work right through till Summer. But I pay a lot in tax, and the longer you are in a school, you become liable to in service courses, monitoring and all the stressful stuff that led me to retire early.
