Greyfriar's Twisted Tales

Last night we went along to Oran Mor in Glasgow to see 2 of our sons Gerry and John perform, for the last time "Greyfriars' Twisted Tales" They were joined by the other member of the Martian Band, Houston, as well as 2 audience "plants"

The boys wrote and first performed the show at the Edinburgh Fringe 2 years ago.
It was great entertainment. Witty lines, wicked parodies of Mary Poppins and all, and really hilarious acting. Gerry as Greyfriars' Bobby, then as Nessie in the final song had to be seen to be believed. Houston as John Knox.
A really good hour of entertainment, enjoyed by all present.

Google the Martians website for more information, and google Greyfriars Twisted Tales too.

Nottingham

At the beginning of this month, we popped down to Nottingham to visit the English relatives.
It was a nice weekend. We stayed at an Inkeepers Lodge. The price was nice, the room was nice, the location was good. The service was nice too. 2 gripes. The breakfast comes in a plastic bag, left outside the door. Orange juice...ok...chocolate muffin...not for me...plasticy croissant....uninspiring....small tub of cereal with long life milk....noooooooooo.
And you have to pay for internet. I found that surprising, given that so many places now offer free wi-fi.

It was nice to see the relatives, and we had a good time. We got to Mass at St Barnabas' Cathedral in Nottingham. It was a High Mass with latin hymns, and all carried out with dignity. I liked the fact that the Extraordinary Ministers wore a blue collar and wore suitable clothes. I dislike Extraordinary Ministers in jeans and t shirts. I do not think that to be appropriate or dignified.
