Braemar Easter Week 2013

We have just returned from 5 days up in Braemar. We had a good time there. The hotel was fine, the food was not spectacular but did us.
The weather was dry and cold, minus 6 a couple of mornings, and there was still lots of snow lying around.
But the roads were clear and during out break we visited a number of National Trust Properties as well as Balmoral Castle. We made full use of the days, leaving the hotel most mornings by 9.30 am, and not back till about 5pm.
I got lots of photos, a number of which will apear here, as well as descriptions of the places we visited.
As a little plus, I came accross a really nice tangy cheese, so I will be looking to find it around here.

Our trip took us towards Stirling, Dunblane, and by-passing Perth. We then passed through Blairgowrie, then along the A93 past the Skiing areas at Glenshee. Thye were doing a roaring trade, with the car park bursting at the seams.
We finally reached Braemar about 4pm, not bad since we had not left home till midday. It is just about 150 miles, but the A93 is not exactly motorway, and in the snowy areas, was quite narrow.

Here are some photos I took en route.
