On Tuesday we drove down to Helensburgh to watch the RAF's Red Arrows.
They were advertised as giving a Fly Past to mark the closing of the Tall Ships' visit to Greenock, just across the Clyde from Helensburgh.
A number of sailing ships from around the world spent 3 days in Greenock before heading to the Orkneys for the next stage of their journey.
Hundreds of thousands of folk came out to see the ships over the 3 days and traffic in the aera was horrendous.
I decided we would get a reasonable view of the flighpast from the other side of the Clyde. We arrived about 10.30 am and managed to get a good parking spot. By 11am the car park was full.
Just after 11.30am, the Red Arrows appeared in the sky, coming over the hills towards Greenock.
We were then all treated to a flying display that lasted nearly 30 minutes. The 8 aircraft carried out a number of manoeuvres that had the crowds on both sides of the water spellbound.
It was a tribute to the flying skills of the pilots and to the aircraft.
Unfortunately, the light was not the best, and my photos are not as good as I would have liked.
nevertheless, it was an event to remember.
