Glasgow Transport Museum

A beautiful sunny day today. After morning Mass, then dentist visit went to the new Transport Museum in Glasgow.
It is beside the River Clyde and there is Sailing Ship which forms part of the exhibition.
At the weekends, the museum is extremely busy but in school time it is much quieter.
A varied selection of vehicles is on display, cars, buses, trains and boats and a street re-creation.
Lots to see and a choice of places to snack or have  meal, including on board the sailing ship.
Well worth a visit.....and totally free.

Burns Night at Cumbernauld Theatre

On Saturday night we attended a Burns celebration at Cumbernauld Theatre.
There were 3 performers : Joyce Falconer, Annie Grace, and our son John.
There was music, poetry and humour. There was Haggis Neeps and Tatties for all and a wee dram for the non drivers.
It was a good night.

The highlight for me was a song sung by Annie about Slavery. It was haunting and powerful.

And it got me thinking. At many Burns Suppers, there can be a concentration on the bawdy side of Burns and the drunkeness.
Burns is much greater than that, and maybe it is time to switch the emphasis from the standard works read at these events to the more thoughtful examples oh his undoubted talent.

January 2016

I am back. We have had an interesting year so far.
The week before Christmas, my wife had a fall, so the family stepped in to  help.
John and Claire made the Christmas dinner and everyone came to our house, including Jordanna's mum who was down from Aberdeen
It was a most wonderful day, and we all fitted round the table for Dinner.

Into January and we had the first snow of the winter. Here are some of my photos from the garden.
