Today we drove up past Stirling into Perthshire and to the wee village of Comrie.
Just outside the village is a collection of Nissen Huts, relics of the German Prisoner of War Camp that was based here.
They were having an open day with various military displays. The main attraction for us was that one of our sons is in a German Reenactment group.
As part of the Open Day, they were marched into the camp under escort, and then had to try and escape. Great fun.
They also had a display of their belongings and gave a clear explanation of what life was like for the prisoners, the different categories of prisoners and how the Geneva Convention was used for the protection of POWs.
The camp now belongs to a Comrie Heritage group who are working hard to preserve and maintain the site.
There are some companies who have rented huts and there is a wonderful community orchard.
