Blessing Saint Anthony's Statue

Last night in our Church we had a short service to bless a recently obtained statue of St Anthony.

About 40 folk were there, not bad for a wet Monday evening.

Fr Anthony Collins OFM came along. He gave a short history of the life of St Antony, blessed the statue and we ended the evening with Benediction.
We then repaired to the foyer of the Church for a cup of tea, aranged by the parish Committee. At present we have no Parish Hall, but we are hoping to change that soon.

St Anthony is a very interesting saint. He is called "Wonder Worker", and is perhaps most famous for finding things that get lost.
 Try him.....

Faustus

On Saturday night, we went along to the Citizen's Theatre in Glasgow to catch the final performance of Faustus.
Our son John had a part in it. I did not think I would enjoy it, but in the end I did. I am generally wary of plays that have been meddled with. In this case a re write of the second half. But it worked for me anyway.

After the show, we chatted to members of the cast and had a drink. It was an enjoyable way to end the evening.
Next morning, John flew to Boston where he is writing some music. He has a busy time coming up.
He has been asked to write music for a production of " A Satire of the Three Estates" to be performed at Linlithgow Palace. He has also to go to Malibu for somethimng to do with the play " Why Do You Stand There In The Rain." John wrote the music for that. It is doing a tour in the USA, but will be returning to Scotland at the Edinburgh Festival this summer.
I am sure John will have some material in the Festival this year too. A show he wrote and performed in last year - "The 27 Club" is going to Berlin shortly, so there is yet another country on his schedule.

I was out teaching all last week, and 2 days this week too. We are slowly reorganising 2 rooms in the house. It is slow, but we will get there.

The photos are from Turin when we visited to see The Shroud.
