Harrogate 2014

We travelled down to Harrogate on Easter Monday to spend 4 nights at the Cairn Hotel.
It is a very large hotel. Our room was fine except for the fact we were over the room being used by a group of people on a dancing holiday. so the music....loud...and the MC...loud went on from about 3 pm till 11pm. it was nice when he stopped.

The food was not too bad. There was a carvery each evening, but I found the meat a little bland. I think the health fad has reached here too, and no salt was used in the cooking process. But it did not spoil the break. There was plenty of parking and wi-fi was available for free in the bar areas.

We visited Harrogate, Knaresborough, Wetherby and Skipton. We spent some time in the ruins of Bolton Abbey, and on the way home spent 2 hours amongst the ruins of Fountains Abbey. It must have been an impressive Monastery before King Henry  VIII closed and robbed it.

We spent a day in York and there will be more of that later too.

There will be a seperate blog on both Abbeys. But a few here to whet your appetite.
