Airbus A380 visits Glasgow

Piloted by a "Bankie" - someone born in Clydebank, the Emirates A380 made its innaugural flight to Glasgow today to mark Emirates' 10 years  flying from Glasgow.

As expected, it drew thousands of spectators. Since the flightpath passes over Clydebank, I took my photos from there. I decided that near the airport would be very difficult for parking.

Everything went well......nearly. As the giant plane, not as noisy as I had expected made its final approach, we saw the landing gear being retracted and the aircraft began to climb. To me it seemed that the crosswind had caught the plane as it was certainly "crabbing."

The aircraft flew overhead and then went around.

The second approach was much smoother, and the giant airliner descended above as and made a faultless landing at Glasgow.

A little over 2 hours later, it climbed back into the sky for the return flight to Dubai.

Facebook site "Call Yerself a Bankie" has lots of wonderful photos and video of the day. Go visit it.
