Museum of Flight Scotland...War Day

On Sunday we travelled through to East Linton, past Edinburgh to spend time at the War Day events going on there.
East Linton is Scotland's Museum of flight and is a great place to spend some time. There are of course some aeroplanes, including a British Airways Concorde, a Comet and a Vulcan Bomber. You can go inside the Comet and the Concorde.
There are lots of hands on things to do as well, and a reasonable cafe.

On Sunday there was the added attraction of the various re-enactment groups who turned up and prepared static displays. There were American, Scottish and German groups there. There was also a group of World War I Cavalry who gave a demonstration. These groups work hard at what they do. They drill. They answer any questions posed to them. It is living history. They buy their own equipment and everything has to be authentic. They are all hard working, skilled and disciplined actors.

There was music and dancing and 2 air displays with 2 single engine aircraft. The wind was so strong, and the pilot so skilled, he had the second pane almost hovering over the crowd.

And to end the day there was a mock battle between an American group and the German Group.
One of my sons is in the German group. They do not get many chances to win any battles.....
Next week they are off to a similar day in Blyth in Northumberland.
